Local SEO · ZIP codes
Your address says Littleton. Google may not agree.
By Zach Wennstedt · Updated · 8 min read
Ten ZIP codes carry a Littleton mailing address, but only one sits entirely inside city limits. Here is how that shapes your Google Business Profile, your service area and the local pages you build.
Direct answer: Only ZIP 80120 is entirely inside Littleton city limits. ZIPs 80121, 80122, 80123, 80127, 80128 and 80129 are partly in the city, and 80124, 80125, 80126 and 80130 carry a Littleton mailing address but sit outside it. For Google Business Profile, Littleton businesses should use their true address, set service areas by the places they actually serve, and build local pages around real neighborhoods rather than the mailing label.
The short version
Why a mailing address is not a map boundary
ZIP codes were drawn to move mail efficiently, not to describe cities. That is why a house in Roxborough, a shop near Highlands Ranch and a storefront on Main Street can all print "Littleton, CO" on their envelopes even though only one of them sits inside the City of Littleton.
For most of life this does not matter. For local search it does, because Google, Apple Maps and AI assistants all try to work out where a business really is and which customers it really serves. When your address, your service area settings and your website tell slightly different stories, the machines hedge. Hedging usually means someone else gets shown.
This guide walks through the city's own ZIP code table, explains what each category means for your Google Business Profile, and gives you a checklist to clean things up before 2027 starts.
The facts
Littleton ZIP codes, according to the city
The City of Littleton publishes a map showing which ZIP codes fall inside its limits. Here is that table in plain terms.
| ZIP code | Relationship to Littleton city limits | Shares the ZIP with |
|---|---|---|
| 80120 | Entirely inside city limits | None |
| 80121 | Partly inside | Greenwood Village, Centennial |
| 80122 | Partly inside | Centennial |
| 80123 | Partly inside | Bow Mar, Columbine Valley, Denver, Lakewood |
| 80127 | Partly inside | Unincorporated Jefferson County |
| 80128 | Partly inside | Unincorporated Arapahoe and Jefferson counties |
| 80129 | Partly inside | Highlands Ranch |
| 80125 | Outside city limits, Littleton mailing address | Roxborough area |
| 80130 | Outside city limits, Littleton mailing address | Highlands Ranch |
| 80124 | Outside city limits, Littleton mailing address | South Metro communities |
| 80126 | Outside city limits, Littleton mailing address | South Metro communities |

Two more wrinkles. The city itself spans Arapahoe County, where most of it sits, and Jefferson County. And Columbine and Ken Caryl are unincorporated Jefferson County communities that use Littleton addresses. If you work in those areas, you already know customers call it "Littleton." Google knows the boundary.
What Google does with it
How the address shapes what you rank for
Google's local results lean on three broad factors: relevance, distance and prominence. Your address feeds distance directly. When someone searches "plumber Littleton," Google has to decide what "Littleton" means for that search. Sometimes it uses the searcher's location. Sometimes it uses the city boundary. Often it blends both.
That has a practical consequence. A business physically located in 80130 may show well for a searcher standing in Highlands Ranch and less well for someone near Main Street who types "Littleton" explicitly. A business in 80120 has the opposite pattern. Neither is wrong. You just need to know which game you are playing so you build the right pages and set the right expectations.
It also affects AI tools. When ChatGPT or Google's AI answers "who are good dentists in Littleton," it draws on your profile, your website and listings across the web. If your website says "serving Highlands Ranch" while your profile says "Littleton" and Apple Maps lists a third variation, the assistant has three stories to reconcile.
Three situations
Which one are you?
- Inside the city. You have the cleanest claim to "Littleton." Protect it with consistent details everywhere.
- Partly-in ZIP. Confirm which side of the line you are on, then name your real neighborhood on your site.
- Littleton-addressed, outside the city. Use the address, but describe your location honestly and lean on South Metro neighborhood names.
Your profile
Setting up your Google Business Profile the right way
Your Google Business Profile is the single most important local listing you own. Before touching anything else, get these settings right. If you want a broader walkthrough of categories, photos and posts, our team keeps a complete Google Business Profile optimization guide that goes beyond the ZIP question.
If customers come to you
Storefronts, restaurants, clinics and offices should show their address. Enter it exactly as the Postal Service formats it, including suite numbers, and use the same format on your website, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp and your BBB listing. Do not add "Littleton" to your business name to chase rankings. Google treats keyword-stuffed names as a guideline violation, and competitors can and do report them.
If you go to customers
Plumbers, roofers, cleaners and mobile services usually hide their address and set a service area. Google lets you add up to 20 service areas and suggests keeping them within roughly two hours of driving from your base. For a Littleton contractor, that might be the City of Littleton, Columbine, Ken Caryl, Highlands Ranch, Centennial and Englewood, plus a handful of ZIP codes where you do the most work.

A service area does not make you rank everywhere inside it. It tells Google where you are willing to go. Rankings still come from relevance, reviews and distance. That is why the next step, your website, matters so much.
If you do both
A business with a showroom that also does installs can show its address and set a service area. Just make sure staff are present during listed hours. Google is strict about storefronts that exist only as mail drops, and virtual offices are a common reason profiles get suspended.
Your website
Building local pages that match the map
Your profile says where you are. Your website proves what you do there.
Name real neighborhoods
Customers search "Ken Caryl," "Columbine," "Aspen Grove" and "downtown Littleton," not ZIP codes. Use those names in headings and copy where you genuinely work.
Show proof from the area
Photos of local jobs, the cross streets you serve, the kinds of homes or businesses you see there. Specific details separate a real page from a template.
Explain the address honestly
If you are Littleton-addressed but outside city limits, say so plainly. "Our shop is in Highlands Ranch with a Littleton mailing address" builds trust and removes confusion.
Skip the ZIP spam
Ten near-identical pages that only swap a ZIP code rarely rank and can drag down the rest of the site. Write fewer, better pages.
Our Littleton neighborhood and ZIP code coverage map shows how we think about these corridors, and the local SEO approach we use for Littleton businesses goes deeper on how pages and profiles work together.

The 2027 address cleanup checklist
Most owners can finish this in two sittings. Keep a simple spreadsheet of every listing as you go.
- Confirm your official address. Look it up on the USPS ZIP lookup and copy the exact format, including suite and ZIP+4 if you use it.
- Check the city map. Find your location on the city's ZIP map and note whether you are inside city limits, in a partly-in ZIP, or Littleton-addressed outside the city.
- Audit your Google Business Profile. Address or service area, primary category, hours and phone. Remove any keyword stuffing from the business name.
- Match Apple, Bing and BBB. Apple Maps has grown fast as a place people read reviews, so treat Apple Business Connect as a first-class listing.
- Fix the website footer and contact page. Same name, address and phone as the profile, plus a sentence that names your real neighborhood.
- Trim your service area. Keep only places you serve profitably. Add a short line on your site for areas you cover occasionally.
- Plan one or two real neighborhood pages. Choose the areas with the most current customers and write about them with specifics.
- Re-check in 90 days. Listings drift as directories pull data from each other. A quarterly check catches it early.
Industry notes
How this plays out by business type
Contractors and home services. You almost always benefit from a hidden address and a focused service area. Your website does the heavy lifting with pages for Columbine, Ken Caryl and the older neighborhoods around downtown. Our home services SEO for Littleton contractors page covers the details, and if you also run paid campaigns, there is more on advertising for contractors elsewhere in our network.
Dental and medical practices. Patients choose by distance and trust. Show the address, list nearby landmarks and parking, and keep insurance and hours current everywhere.
Downtown shops and restaurants. You sit in 80120, the cleanest Littleton address there is. Your challenge is not location. It is keeping hours, menus and event details current across every platform.
Offices in Littleton-addressed ZIPs. Be proud of where you are. A Highlands Ranch or Roxborough location described honestly will outperform a vague claim to downtown every time.

Bottom line
Be precise, then be specific
The ZIP code question sounds technical, but the fix is simple. Know which of the three situations you are in. Use one exact version of your address everywhere. Set a service area that matches the jobs you actually take. Then build a small number of pages that prove you know the neighborhoods you serve.
Do that, and Google, Apple Maps and the AI assistants all hear the same clear story. That clarity is one of the cheapest advantages available to a Littleton business heading into 2027, and most of your competitors have not bothered with it yet.
Clear beats clever. One honest address, used everywhere, is worth more than ten ZIP code pages.
FAQ
Questions Littleton owners ask
Should I list Littleton or Highlands Ranch as my city if my ZIP is 80130?
Use the city name the US Postal Service accepts for your address, which for 80130 is usually Littleton, and keep it identical everywhere. Then make your real location clear on your website by naming Highlands Ranch and nearby landmarks. Consistency matters more than the label, and honesty about where you are helps both customers and Google.
Can I add every Littleton ZIP code to my Google service area?
You can add ZIP codes, but Google recommends keeping a service area within about two hours of driving from your base and listing only places you truly serve. A tight list of cities, neighborhoods and ZIPs you actually work in usually performs better than a long one, and it avoids sending calls you will turn away.
Does moving my office into 80120 help me rank for Littleton searches?
Being closer to where searchers are can help with proximity, but relevance and reputation still decide a lot. A move is a business decision, not an SEO tactic. Most businesses get more from tightening their profile, earning recent reviews and building useful neighborhood pages than from changing ZIP codes.
Do I need a separate page for every Littleton ZIP code?
No. Thin pages that swap one ZIP for another rarely help and can look like spam. Build pages for areas where you have real work, real customers and something specific to say, such as Columbine, Ken Caryl or downtown, and fold the ZIP codes into that content naturally.
